This morning started the same way many Saturdays have started recently: with a run.
I'm not a particularly fast runner, and I certainly wouldn't claim to have great form. But over the past several months I've been trying to focus less on performance and more on consistency. Some days the win isn't running farther or faster—it's simply showing up and putting in the miles.
Today's run ended on a trail that emerged into a neighborhood market on Liren Street in Taoyuan, Taiwan. What began as a routine cooldown walk turned into a reminder of why I enjoy spending time here.
Watch the Video
This is something new on the blog... I'm trying to do some experiments with video to simplify the post generation process. The video below was recorded during a Saturday morning run and cooldown walk through Liren Street Market in Taoyuan, Taiwan. While the original audio was overwhelmed by the sounds of the market, the experience itself was worth sharing.
Liram Street Market - Taoyuan City, Taiwan
At first glance, Liren Street Market might not look remarkable. It isn't a major tourist attraction. It won't appear on many travel itineraries. There are no long lines of visitors taking photos or searching for famous local foods.
As I walked through the market, I watched residents shopping for fresh seafood, vegetables, household goods, and ingredients for the week ahead.
Liren Street is very cool. Check it out.
